Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-04
At Handreg, accessible from handreg.io, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy explains what Handreg collects, what stays in your browser, and which third parties are involved.
This Privacy Policy applies only to this website. It does not apply to information collected offline or through other channels, or to the third-party websites we link to.
Consent
Using this website does not mean you consent to analytics. Analytics is optional, and your consent is given only through the banner: it runs only if you choose Accept, and nothing from Google Analytics is loaded otherwise.
What stays in your browser
Handreg has no accounts, no database and no server that receives what you type. Every tool runs in your browser. The words, patterns, keywords and domain lists you enter are never sent to us, and we cannot see them.
Availability checks and DNS lookups
To tell whether a domain name is taken, the tools ask a public DNS resolver. When you run a check, your browser sends the domain names being checked, and nothing else from the tool, directly to two services over HTTPS:
- Cloudflare DNS (cloudflare-dns.com), see Cloudflare’s public DNS resolver privacy policy.
- Google Public DNS (dns.google), see Google Public DNS privacy.
As with any web request, these services also see your IP address. We do not receive, store or see these requests or their answers. Their own policies govern what they keep.
Browser storage
Handreg sets no cookies of its own. It stores two small values in your browser’s localStorage, and nothing else:
- handreg-theme: your choice of light or dark theme. It is absent if you follow your device setting.
- cookie-consent: your analytics choice, either accepted or declined. It is absent until you answer the banner.
These values never leave your browser. You can delete them at any time by clearing the site data for handreg.io.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-JGDX1LEWMR) to count visits and see which pages are useful. It is loaded only after you press Accept in the banner. If you press Decline, or do not answer, nothing from Google Analytics is loaded.
After you accept, the page loads a small hidden frame from our own domain (handreg.io/analytics-frame/), and that frame loads Google’s tag from googletagmanager.com. Google Analytics receives the address, title and referrer of the page you are on, plus standard technical data such as your IP address, browser, device type and approximate location, and it sets its own cookies (for example _ga) on handreg.io. We use the aggregated reports only. See Google’s Privacy Policy, and Google’s browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
To change your mind, clear the site data for handreg.io and the banner will ask again. If you accepted the cookie banner on the previous version of this site, that choice is kept.
Log files and hosting
Handreg is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like all hosting providers, Cloudflare processes technical request data to deliver the site, such as your IP address, browser type, date and time, and the page requested. We do not link this data to any personally identifiable information, and we do not use it to track you across sites.
Links to other websites
Tool results link to services such as domain registrars, appraisal and SEO tools, the Internet Archive, and the page where you can support us through Buy Me a Coffee. Some links to registrars are affiliate links: if you buy a domain after clicking one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Once you click, you leave Handreg and the other site’s own privacy policy and cookies apply. We have no control over them.
If you contact us
If you write to us at contact@handreg.io, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send. We use it only to reply, and we do not share it.
CCPA Privacy Rights (Do Not Sell My Personal Information)
We do not sell personal information. Under the CCPA, California consumers have the right to request that a business disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal data it has collected, delete that data, and not sell it. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We have 45 days to respond, and may extend this once by a further 45 days when reasonably necessary, in which case we will tell you within the first 45 days.
GDPR Data Protection Rights
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you are entitled to the following:
- The right to access: you may request copies of your personal data.
- The right to rectification: you may ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
- The right to erasure: you may ask us to erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to restrict processing, under certain conditions.
- The right to object to our processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to data portability, under certain conditions.
- The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.
Our legal basis for Google Analytics is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time as described above. If you make a request, we have one month to respond. Please contact us to exercise any of these rights.
Children’s Information
Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and monitor and guide their online activity. Handreg does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. If you think your child provided this kind of information to us, please contact us and we will do our best to remove it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Handreg handles data, we will update this page and its date.
